TAX PRACITIONER'S ASSOCIATION, INDORE - HISTORY AND SOME IMPORTANT FACTS

In the year 1950, the system of tax laws was gradually introduced and thereby the need of a strong democratic association was felt. Tax practitioner's association's first body was constituted in the year 1953-54 under the presidentship of Lt. CA. Sumanbhai Shah and secretaryship of Shri B.D. Maulasaria. There were only 20 Tax Consultants at that time. Further in the year 1961, the association was restructured and a new bar room as well as library was inaugurated in a small room at Old Income Tax office under the guidance of then Commissioner of Income Tax Shri R.D. Shah and the presidentship of Lt. Shri S.V. Pandey. Gradually over a period of time, there was a tremendous increase in number of Tax payers and in proportion to the same there was an increase in number of Tax Practitioners in Direct and Indirect Taxes both. At present there are more than 500 Tax Practitioners’ are member of the association, which includes Chartered Accountants in Tax Practice. At present, the association is having a big size hall in New Income Tax Building with fully furnished and well equipped with electrical and electronics. Tax Practitioners’ Association is the premier Association of the Central India region and is a registered body.

The Association is regularly organizing Study Circle Meeting on every second and fourth Friday of the month, on the current topics of Direct and Indirect taxes, in which the eminent faculties give the critical analysis on the topic, large number of members have attended the same on regular basis. Apart from that a query redressal session is also held every month, in which the experts on the different subjects give the answer to the query of the members. Every year live budget talk is also held at association office on budget day. In addition to above, Seminars, Workshop and Public Talk were also organized by the association for the benefit of its members, trade and the society at large. Very eminent dignitaries and speakers of national level have grace the programmes organized by the association. Further the association make representation, suggestion etc. before the appropriate authority on the problems being faced by the members and tax payers, with probable suitable solution from time to time. There has been a monthly issue of a bulletin named "Tax news and views" in which article on current topics, tax updates, information about important decisions were published. There has always been cordial relations between BAR and department. Association has achieved respectful position in terms of Awareness, Competency and Knowledge not only in the state but in the whole Country. The members of the association are the National level Speakers and under the faculty development programme new faculty are developed on the various subjects.

Tax Practitioners in Indore have always lived as a family. Members of Association has not only contributed in Taxation field but they have also contributed in Social, Political, Religious, Spiritual, Literary fields. The association celebrate Holi and Diwali with their members and departmental officers every year.
